About Mari-Lyn Harris
Where and how I got started
It’s a long story, however I think it is important for you to know how I began. I grew up in an Entrepreneural home, my father built a million dollar business in Direct mail his clients were non-profits.
My ventures was a lemonade stand, babysitting, lending out money once I was old enough I worked in hospitality services – waitress, bartender, manager, cook, catering anything related for several years. After this stint, I have a career in Barbering as well (I had to quit due to health reasons)
I promised myself that I would go back to college, so I did when I was 30 years old, enrolled in Business Management with the intention of learning more about marketing and sales. When I graduated my first sales job was working for a beauty supply, then Solid Gold Promotions which was like Entertainment Books. From there I got into other sales like advertising, memberships, coaching and mentoring Entrepreneurs.
One day I went to a networking event and met my future business partner Ann Peters and we formed a company called Viva Libreo Management Consultants. We had a perfect marriage meaning that she loved the office management, accounting side and I loved Marketing and Sales. We actually ended up coaching and consulting with new Entrepreneurs and their ventures. Within the 2nd year of our business we wrote a book together called “Build Your Own Business.” (This link will take you to a page where you can download it.) Many trainers bought this book as their training manual to teach people how to be an Entrepreneurs.
After working for other companies, I was itching to get back into my own company again..in 2001 Heart@Work was born, where it orginally started out as an idea to have more Kindness in workplaces..non-profits, employees and social committees really wanted things to shift. The employers couldn’t see how being kind, with their customers or employees would make a difference in their bottom line. It’s now 2012 and this is what people and some business owners have been talking about for the last 3 years of how much it really does and has made a difference to all concerned.
I also produced two Kindness Conferences in 2000 and 2001..
Founded the “Heart on the Line Awards,” over 43 awards have been given out since conception. Kindness Hero Awards and how to nominate someone.
Over the past few years I moved on to write about Relationship Marketing..because relationships matter. It’s about the little things we do for each other, it’s about how we connect with each other, what we stand for, what and how we say things that people get about us. How we show up.
Where am I now?
Throughout the years I have come to realize that I am a Serial Entrepreneur. Get many ideas and like to connnect people together it’s really about having engaged relationships. This is what Social Media is about – being social. In order to be social you need to be engaged with people. I like projects and yes sometimes I have too many projects going on – what I have discovered this is just how I operate and get more done.
One of my projects is helping Artists and Musicians do their marketing and creating a successful art business for themselves. Plus there is a Facebook page for Artists.
Masterminding or having accountabilty partners is really important especially when we are working solo. I find I do my best work, have the best successes when I am working with people who can keep me accountable or provide other solutions or ideas to do something from their own experience. Read about why this is the Key to your success.
What can I do for you?
By helping Entrepreneurs to become more successful, I offer an Empowerment groups. And offering other self-improvement tools and help. Supporting you to be the best that you can be.
Our Key Values?
Honesty, Kindness, Social Business, Socially responsibility and of course having fun, along our journey!
What I have learned is that we all have the power, to take action, to plant a seed, to write, offer encouragement to someone else. You can even just share a smile, especially for those who don’t have one and need it the most.
If you are ready to grow your business exponentially then call me..as we can start to Rock ‘n Roll with heart. Join a Mastermind group or let’s connect and let me know how I can help you.
