Adding value to your community

adding value to your

Adding value to your community, like listening first.   Over the past year I’ve noticed certain  friends, love to talk about politics what’s going on and then complain about it.

I’ve been hanging out socially with these people and I brought up a point about someone who always has to bring up a political issue about something wrong with what the government is doing,  it always seems to happen at a social event.

I find it very hard to get to know this  person because of this bad habit. Does she do it intentionally or is totally unconscious?

I don’t want to talk about some political topic when we are at a social function, like Christmas, or the football playoffs.. someone’s birthday or …. Isn’t there something else we can talk about?  Or maybe it’s just time that I don’t go when she’s there. Would this be self-care or something else?

As  I am sure people get tired of me talking about kindness and how it can change your life and business. There is a balance that I need to be aware of, not every event or meeting I am at, do I need to bring it up.  I spend most of my time listening and asking questions. I’ve learned to be heard, I need to listen.

The conversation of politics, has its place.  It doesn’t need to be brought up all the time. My friend said to me,” well if you aren’t willing to have a conversation about the questions, then you are closed minded.”

Really?

How about the times when I’ve spent time with your bubble asking questions, trying to understand why you believe about homelessness, immigration and whatever was happening at the time… no one has ever asked me what I believed, or my opinion?

So who is closed minded?

My friend said, “you have a point”

Are you just wanting to talk  politics or are you  just being very passionate  to converse about what’s going on in the world, that you need to talk about.

Sharing your passion about politics is important as long as you are willing to have an open mind, listen to other people. Even they don’t agree with you. If you don’t like what’s going on, then go volunteer or find a way to change it in your local community.

Passion can be described as intense, impassioned, heated, feverish, emotional, heartfelt, eager, excited, animated, spirited, vigorous, strong, energetic on the positive side of things.

Political can be described as wise, prudent, sensible, judicious, canny, well judged, sagacious, expedient, shrewd, astute, discreet, tactful, diplomatic; recommended, advantageous, beneficial.

Politics is about the characteristic blend of conflict and co-operation that can be found so often in human interactions. Pure conflict is war. Pure co-operation is true love. Politics is a mixture of both.

Some people in my other bubbles like Matt Schlegel, his business is about using the Enneagram – his passion is about Climate Change, he’s joined other groups to be a part of climate change interviewing people to discover what their viewpoint is. It also is about  adding value to your community.

Discover is become aware of (a fact or situation): the courage to discover the truth and possibly be disappointed.

Social Entrepreneurs this is a resource list, not all social entrepreneurs are non-profits. Mostly, ordinary people are realizing that if they want to see change, they have to get  involved. Volunteering is a great way to learn about what you are passion about. It’s a great way to be heard. And you’ll meet likeminded people.

Looking for places to volunteer? Check out Volunteer Match. And of course you have friends who are all trying to get you to Volunteer with them. Say, yes more often.  Add value to your community.

It’s all about adding value to your community, if you can’t or don’t find value..then you know your answer.  If hope thru my message that we all can have what we want if we listen to each other, add value and be kind. We are all different, let’s not be the same.
