Are we speaking to each other with a kinder voice?

I wrote a white paper what ever you want to call it about changing our language, the labels we call people. It’s about talking about people who are unhoused or unsheltered. For some of us we sleep in our vehicles, or in tents our homes are temporary, they are just different than what yours are. It doesn’t mean we need to be criminalized for our situations.

This paper will tell you why we need to change from “homeless or homelessness”  to more of a positive light. Homeless is an old word, that implies that you are less than.. One of the things I said to a friend of mine – how would you like it if I called you “privileged?”  No one wants to be called that, yet people want to put down other people for what they don’t have.

Why?

We are all in transition, from one place to another.  Some people lose hope, and start to believe their voice no longer matters. It’s like being in an abusive relationship. It’s about control, what I say about you matters more.

Words are powerful.

Silence is powerful too!

It’s time to rise up for all of us to be kinder to each other..treat each other with respect and dignity.

Let’s stop the bullying!!  Those who are not willing to change are bullies.. or are like a nimby, not in my neighborhood not in my language about you.
