leading with kindness

Fremont for Everyone is a group who sincerely wants the city of Fremont for everyone, however there are still some people who don’t.

For the past few months actually since December 17, 2024 we have been campaigning against the City of Fremonts’ camping ban. The newly elected mayor Salwan and the new city council members except for (1) person has made it clear they are not interested in helping those who are unhoused.  Their policies are ever present.

We are in a housing crisis in California, and I am sure in other states they are faced with the same issue. The reason is basically builders or developers have just been building high rise apartments, rather than  starter homes. We have a shortage.

When people can buy their own home, there is stability. We now can consider, Tiny homes as starter homes. Usually they are smaller, most people say I could live in one of these. The lifestyle is simpler and can do more rather than being rent poor.

They are inexpensive to build, VS a high-rise where they are expensive to build and therefore the rents are more.

Fremont for Everyone, we rally with Senators who want to pass bills that will help those to have housing easily. We keep abreast of who is building what, most often what happens is the developers come to us for our endorsement of their projects. We as a group send letters of support to our assembly members too!

We are a grassroots organization, due to the policies of the group, we are not a formal non-profit.  We fundraising to help the people in encampments, or if people need help. We have been taking on more problems that the city won’t. You can find more information about them on their website. https://fremontforeveryone.com

I just finished sharing the 1st newsletter.. which I will attach here.. it will give you everything connected about housing.

I will likely continue publishing a newsletter not just for Fremont for Everyone, for all those who are involved and keep you updated. This is why, I haven’t been publishing very much on Heart@Work.

Advocacy takes time and I have found it’s worth it..

Now we are fighting for Measure W, the funds were created just for “Unhoused Funding.”  The powers to be are wanting to take a chunk of the funds for other people budget shortfalls. It’s not fair nor it it the right thing to do.

The money must be spent https://homelessness.acgov.org/home-together.page?

Housing first is the model that works.. let’s do it. Not just for people in Fremont, other cities in CA who are suffering as well.

Here’s another one: https://www.banking.senate.gov/newsroom/minority/warren-warnock-cleaver-re-introduce-comprehensive-bill-to-lower-housing-costs-and-address-housing-crisis

Until next time… you can read more about Advocacy and living unhoused.
