How to Start Giving in Your Relationships

relationships

How to start giving in your relationships is about Performing act of kindness is one of the best and quickest ways to improve your life.

When you get, give; when you learn, teach!” Oprah. Here’s some ideas of kindness to get started with:

  • Pay someone a compliment
  • When someone unexpectedly pays us a compliment or does us a good turn, it evokes a feeling akin to the first stirrings of love—a weightlessness and joy that make all problems suddenly seem like possibilities.
  • Buy someone a cup of coffee and get to know them
  • People really do want to be connected, to have friends, to be heard and understood. Even if you see someone on the street begging, buying them a cup of coffee or sandwich will brighten their day. Check out In Line Behind you. I wrote about this group back in 2009.
  • Give everyone you meet a genuine hug and a Smile
  • There have been many people who, simply stood on a street corner and gave away hugs. Even if you simply embraced a friend you haven’t seen in a while, you’ll enrich each other so much more.
  • Do something that is not exchanging money..it’s just totally giving something from you. This is one of those things we say what?
  • Maybe you read stories or sing to children, or you spend time with a senior citizen, or you simply keep the Smile chain going.
  • Reach out to someone you don’t know, invite them to a networking group or call them to see how you can work together or collaborate with them
  • Make eye contact and say “Hello”
  • Don’t keep score of measuring your friendships. Relax, be kind and the world will become more generous

Each time we extend ourselves to another, we are also reminded of how we are inextricably linked to our friends, our neighbors, even to those we dislike. “We cannot live only for ourselves,” the great writer Herman Melville once said.

A thousand fibers connect us with our fellow men; and among those fibers, as sympathetic threads, our actions run as causes, and they come back to us as effects.” That’s why a generous, gracious deed has the power to transform us—when we show kindness to others, we become the beneficiary of our own love and care.

If you are ready to be a Chief Kindness Officer, then start by reaching out to people with compassion and empathy. It just take a few kind words.. and listen, find out what is important to the person who you are listening to.

Each time to give to someone else your life is enriched 2x, you will have this natural high that you took the extra time to be with some one, to give them space and attention to them to open up just to help you to strengthen your heart.
